Foodzie Box

Today I got my first Foodzie Tasting Box in the mail today. I have been anxiously waiting since Saturday morning. My apartment complex's office closed early and locked my box inside. I tried to be mad but I couldn't blame them. I wouldn't want to be stuck inside an office on such a beautiful Saturday either. Especially after my boss called me on Friday morning telling me to close our office and get outside!

*These opinions are all my own! I paid for the Foodzie box with my own money. I really like what I got so I wanted to share it with those of you who may be interested. I read about it on several different sites before deciding to give a try for myself.*

Here are the three boxes you could choose from this month:

- Italian Cooking Box:
  • Porcini Polenta Blend (12 oz)
  • Arbequina Extra Virgin Olive Oil (250 ml)
  • Calabrese Salami (6 oz)
  • Chocolate Hazelnut Biscotti (4 oz)
  • Italian Seasoning (2 oz)
I didn't choose this one because I am not a huge Italian food person and I don't like Salami.

- Ski Lodge Cafe Tasting Box
  • Dark Hot Chocolate on a Stick (3 oz)
  • Vanilla Marshmallows (6 oz)
  • Masala Chai (2 oz)
  • Peppermints (1.4 oz)
  • Vanilla Cookie & Chocolate Chip Cookie (3.5 oz)
  • Dark Chocolate Java Rocks Candy (3 oz)
I didn't choose this one because it was all sweets. Between the Girl Scout Cookies and the Cadbury Mini Eggs I didn't really need a box full sweet treats. Notice I said need and not want because boy I did want that Hot Chocolate on a Stick and Vanilla Marshmallows!

So for the box that I did choose!

The Brooklyn Box
  • Rosemary Onion Crackers (8 oz)
  • Organic Dried Mangoes (1.4 oz)
  • 'The King' Candy Bar (3 oz)
  • Beer Truffles (1.25 oz)
  • Bacon Fat Old Bay Peanuts (3.25 oz)
  • Farmhand Granola (12 oz)
I still got some sweet like I wanted but I also got my savory choices as well! Perfect! And just for you I had a small taste of each so I could tell you what I think ;)

Immediately after opening the box I opened the bag of Early Bird Granola's Farmhand's Choice. I can't wait to eat a bowl of yogurt topped with this granola. It is sweet and salty. Foodzie hit the adjectives straight on when they said it is "unbelievably light and crisp."

Z Crackers have a great flavor! Not bland at all. You can taste the red onion and rosemary.

Ovenly Old Salties were okay. I am not a huge fan of bacon or Old Bay seasoning and that’s what these were all about. If you like those two things you will definitely like these peanuts. I will most likely be giving these to Trey. He likes spicy things.

Peeled’s Much-Ado-About-Mangos are pretty good. A little too chewy for me but they had a great flavor. I will be finishing the bag but most likely not purchasing them.

Nunu Chocolates Beer Box, beer chocolate?!! Yes, I said it. I only bit into one and you can taste the hint of beer in them. The chocolate is very good. The beer flavor is not overpowering at all just enough to know it’s in there.

Last, but not least, Liddabit Sweets “The King” candy bar. I cut off a small slice to try. It cuts really well with a knife. It has a crunchy wafer like cookie, peanut butter nougat, banana ganache all covered in milk chocolate. I was afraid when I read banana I wouldn’t like it. The banana flavor does not override the peanut butter and chocolate flavor. The flavors mesh well. You can taste them all in just the right amounts.

After tasting everything in the box the granola is my favorite!

I was uneasy before I got my box about paying the $29.95 a month subscription fee. Being a recent college grad and completely out on my own has made me more cautious when splurging on things I don't need. With that said, it is okay to splurge sometimes! Plus you have to buy food anyway. The items you get in your box are not samples they are full-sized products. I added up how much you would pay for each individual product alone vs. getting the Foodzie box and you end up saving $5.84. Plus you don't have to pay extra for shipping.

So far I have only received the free mini tasting box and the Brooklyn box. Both of which I have not been disappointed in. I have gotten to try things I would most likely never get to otherwise.

Watch this video to learn about the founders and see what the company is about!

Personally, I think the company is doing a great job of bringing together small businesses and consumers. I will pay a little more for something when I know who and where it is coming from.

Let’s chat!
  • Have you/do you subscribe to Foodzie or any other kind of subscription type tasting or testing boxes?
  • If so, which ones have you tried?
  • What are your likes/dislikes?
