Dancing Queen's family dinner at Glory Bound

October 4-6, 2013 was Alumnae Weekend for my sorority. It was also Homecoming for UA. It was a lot of fun getting to meet some of the girls. Anna, Perry and I went to the game but did not stay long since we were getting scorched in the sun. It was a fun weekend and it brought back many memories of the "good old days".

For my actual birthday we stayed in, watched Alabama beat Ole Miss and ate lots of delicious finger foods. Anna did an amazing job on those cupcakes! I have such amazing friends! I wish everyone could have been there. 

Donut Hole Bakery Cafe | Santa Rosa Beach

The Donut Hole is my new all time favorite breakfast place. We went twice for breakfast while we were at the beach. The first time we ordered to go and brought it back to everyone at the house. I got the breakfast sandwich without lettuce, tomatoes or mayo and on a biscuit. So basically a bacon egg and cheese biscuit with a side of hash browns (that is a little bit of the gravy I tried on the side). I guess the sandwich is normally really large so they gave me two biscuits. I had leftovers for another breakfast.  Leigh ordered some donut holes since you can't go to the Donut Hole and not order donut holes. They tasted just like Krispy Kreme donuts. Which is a good thing. They were really good. The next time we went we stayed there and ate. I tried to be somewhat healthier and order a veggie omelet instead of my beloved bacon egg and cheese biscuit. It was good but not as good as the biscuit. The cheese grits were amazing though.

Birthday Dinner at Pompano Joe's | Miramar Beach

I was taking a picture of the sunset and did not realize the sweet moment I caught of Bobby and Kylie until I downloaded them off my phone onto my computer. 

I considered Pompano Joe's my birthday dinner since we stayed in the beach house to watch the Bama game on my actual birthday (September 28th). I ordered the grilled snow crab feast. Our waitress assured me that 80% of the people who like steamed snow crab legs loved the grilled ones better once they tried it. So what they hey, I gave it a try and hoped I wasn't in the 20%. I had to go all out, you only turn 26 once! It was delicious and lived up to its name (so much food) and I actually liked the grilled ones better but they are way more messy than the steamed. 

VKI Japanese Steakhouse & Sushi Bar | Santa Rosa Beach

While at the beach, on Thursday for dinner we went to VKI Japanese Steakhouse & Sushi Bar. Everyone ordered a couple of different rolls and we all tried each others. My favorite was the Pink Lady Roll - fried salmon, cucumber and kiwi, lemon and fresh salmon on top with Chef's special sauce. Trey ordered this one. He seems to always pick out things that I think I won't like and when I try it I actually do really like it. Also, everyday they have 1/2 price sushi from 4:30-6:30. It is only on select rolls but they have a large list to choose from. 

30A Bike Path | Santa Rosa Beach

Highway 30A has an 18 mile bike path. Lots of pretty beach houses and things to look at on the path. The first morning we were at the beach we had the bright idea to walk it to find a place for breakfast. It would have been great if we stopped at the first place, turned left instead of right or worn tennis shoes instead of sandals... 4 miles later we had blisters and no breakfast. We stopped at a gas station and ate Subway sandwiches and luckily Bobby and Kylie had just made it to town so they gave us a ride back to the house.
