30A Bike Path | Santa Rosa Beach

Highway 30A has an 18 mile bike path. Lots of pretty beach houses and things to look at on the path. The first morning we were at the beach we had the bright idea to walk it to find a place for breakfast. It would have been great if we stopped at the first place, turned left instead of right or worn tennis shoes instead of sandals... 4 miles later we had blisters and no breakfast. We stopped at a gas station and ate Subway sandwiches and luckily Bobby and Kylie had just made it to town so they gave us a ride back to the house. 

5 on Friday | 10.11.12

Today I decided to do the 5 on Friday link-up. So here are 5 things I am loving right now, in no particular order. 

One | Bath and Body Work's Mason Jar Candles. 

Two | Football Season! Roll Tide!

Three | I have started drinking Spark in the morning instead of coffee and I have more energy and don't reach for Diet Dr. Pepper throughout the day at work. I even drink decaf coffee just for the taste now... Never thought I would say that!

Four | Kindle Paperwhite. I caved and bought one. I am an Amazon Prime member and was so upset to find out I could not borrow books from the Lending Library unless I had an actual Kindle device, my iPad Kindle app did not count. (My fault for not reading the fine print.) Now I am obsessed. I still love the thought of having actual books but it is just so much easier to use a Kindle and sometimes way cheaper. Sorry book borrowing friends, I may not be purchasing as many real books anymore... 

Oh, and if anyone is curious I purchased the one with "special offers". For $20 more you can purchase it without them but I do not see the point. The special offers are other book advertisements but do not show up while you are reading. They just show up at the bottom on your home screen and while shopping for other books. I would say use the extra $20 to buy more books! Plus I love a good book recommendation so why not have them?

Five | I just purchased my second bottle of First Aid Beauty's Detox Eye Roller. I love how light and liquid it is and the tingling/cooling feeling it gives you under your eyes. 

Which Wich | Tuscaloosa, AL

Which Wich is my new favorite sandwich place. They have a ton of choices for toppings. So far every time I have been everything has been fresh and great. I have only been inside the newest one in Midtown but have had to-go orders from the one on University. I usually get a small turkey on wheat with cheddar, lettuce, tomatoes, grilled onions, pickles, bell peppers and honey mustard. Trey ordered the veggie wrapped in lettuce one time and it looked really good. I have gotten my turkey sandwich wrapped in lettuce and also as a salad. If you really like lettuce you will love the lettuce wrap. I like the sandwich version and the salad bowls the best.

Flip Flops Grill | Santa Rosa Beach

For dinner the first night we were at the beach, Trey went and picked up pitas from Flip Flops Grill. Trey ordered the Greek Pita - grilled chicken, cucumber sauce, onion, cucumber, lettuce, feta and tomato. I ordered the Southwest Pita - grilled chicken, chipotle sauce, onion, monterey jack, salsa and lettuce. Mine was amazing. I loved how all of the ingredients were chopped up into small pieces so you got some of everything in each bite. If we had stayed longer I would have wanted to eat here again! 

Lagniappe | Santa Rosa Beach

While in Santa Rosa, we stayed in the Old Florida Village neighborhood in the Lagniappe house. Staying in a neighborhood made me feel less like a tourist and more at home. The school bus would come and let kids off every afternoon. I would have loved living here as a kid!

Side note: Yes, I am a dork and googled how to pronounce "lagniappe" and was not surprised when I had been saying it all wrong (Brittany's pronunciation: lag-nap-ee) (Merriam Webster's pronunciation: lan-yap)

I would recommend it to anyone looking for a place in this area. One of the pools was directly behind the house. Very convenient for running back and forth for any reason. I loved all of the artwork and decorative touches. I did not want to leave when it was time to go. 

Beach Day | Santa Rosa Beach

When we got to the beach the first thing the boys did was run in the ocean and catch a crab. We were at the beach all of 5 minutes before Bobby caught one. While us girls soaked up the sun, Trey and Bobby made a mermaid in the sand. We only went to the beach one time this trip, the next trip to the beach I plan on living on the beach the entire time. The water was clear so you could see your feet and there was hardly any seaweed at all. I like Santa Rosa Beach way more than Gulf Shores/Orange Beach. I am pretty sure we were the youngest people there. It was very nice and quiet. The only thing I like more about Gulf Shores is there are a billion more restaurants to choose from and are usually within walking distance.
