Quilt Show & a Cute Boutique

At The Spring Chicken Festival they had a quilt show. This was actually the reason we came in the first place. We didn’t find out it was a Chicken Festival until after we were on our way.

Atlanta - April 27 - 29, 20122Atlanta - April 27 - 29, 20123

They had a lot of pretty and unique quilts. My favorite was very top two pictures. the circle pattern. I also really liked the solid white one.

After we got done at the festival we walked around downtown Gainesville and found this really cute shop named Dress Up Boutique.

This may just be the prettiest store I have been to!

Up next is the Wine Expo!

Questions:
  • Which quilt do you like best?
  • Have you been to a store where all you wanted to do was take pictures of the décor?

Crawfish Boil

One of Trey’s friends had a crawfish boil on Saturday. I had Trey find out if they were having anything besides what was in the boil and they said no. I wasn’t sure if I would like the food so I brought an appetizer. I made a Mexican dip. It turned out really good!

A whole pan of it disappeared before I could even take a picture. Everyone really liked it.

They put crawfish, potatoes, onions, garlic, lemons and pineapples in the boil with various seasonings. I was shocked that I actually liked the crawfish.

When we got home I was a little hungry so Trey made me a grilled cheese. His grilled cheeses are the best I have ever had. He uses his dad’s homemade bread and whatever cheese that’s in the fridge. This one’s made with white cheddar.

Before I left on Sunday we went shopping and had lunch at Santa Fe Mexican Grille.

We started with cheese dip which I really liked. It wasn’t too spicy. I ordered the Fajita Chicken Salad. It was very good! The chicken was tender and seasoned perfectly.

I am glad I didn’t look at the reviews before we ate there!

After eating we walked around the mall. I went in Sephora and one of the sales lady handed me a free sample of a bareMinerals lip gloss. It is a little darker than what I usually wear.

At forever 21 I bought these earrings for $1.50 each! I couldn’t resist they were so cheap! I also got 3 dresses.

This is the only dress I could find a picture of online. I also got a pale pink one and a gray/yellow one.

outfit

I wore another new outfit today. I just love wearing clothes for the first time! I have had the yellow jacket for a while but it is a favorite. So comfy and warm. My mom made the scarf/cowl. She sells them if you are interested shoot me an email!

valentinescookies

My mom and little cousin came by my work and brought me some Valentine’s Day cookies they had just made!

lettuce

I saw this on Pinterest. Chopped lettuce will supposedly stay fresh longer when put in a mason jar. Have you tried this? I packed the jar full and put the remaining lettuce in a zip lock. I will keep you guys posted:)

vegetarian nachos

Sorry this picture is super bright but it was my dinner. Baked scoops, black beans, cheese, lettuce and salsa. Quick and tasty. If you haven’t already noticed, quick and easy has been a usual for me lately.

Question:
  • Do you have any quick and easy go to dinners? If so, please share!

{books} Catching Fire

SPOILER ALERT: I am not going to give away the ending to Catching Fire but if you have not read The Hunger Games (the first book in the trilogy) don’t read this post any further unless you don’t care about finding out what happens in the end.

I finished reading Catching Fire last night. I thought it was just as good as The Hunger Games. I didn’t read it in one sitting but I could have it was that good.

On a side note, when I really like a book I try to take my time reading it. To me I enjoy a book more if I pace myself. Now if I don’t like a book I will try and hurry up and read it so I can be done with it. Or if it is really bad I just won’t finish it at all. I feel like everyone else I know is the opposite if they really like a book then they finish it really fast.

Back to Catching Fire! Katniss and Peeta both survived the games. The Capitol took this as defiance and seek to punish Katniss.

Katniss and Peeta must go on the Victors’ Tour around Panem. In one district an uprising begins. The leader of the Capitol, President Snow, is outraged and sets out to get revenge on Katniss and Peeta for starting the rebellion.

It is the year of the Quarter Quell which happens every 25 years. It is a special game that they change things up in some way to make it more interesting. This time they choose to pick the tributes from the victors of past games. Katniss and Peeta are faced with the games for a second round.

It is really hard to talk about a book without giving away too much! After I finished the book I downloaded Mockingjay to my iPad. Good so far!

This morning I went to Hobby Lobby with my mom. We have been every weekend so far since they reopened. I got several cute things! My favorite is this candle.

candle

Darsee and David’s Lemon Cake candle smells just like my grandmother, Mama Ray’s kitchen. At least as I remember it. She always had these lemon crème cookies that smells exactly like this candle. I am sure I could go to any grocery store and buy the same cookies she had but it wouldn’t be the same. So instead I will just smell my new candle:)

While driving we saw Girl Scouts on a street corner selling GS Cookies! We had to stop. My hips were saying no but I didn't listen. I bought peanut butter patties and peanut butter sandwiches. Last year one box lasted a month so hopefully these last at least 2 months. Wishful thinking!

I wore one of my new sweaters today! I said I would never wear horizontal stripes but I couldn’t help it I liked it so much. Hopefully it doesn’t make me look too big. The back buttons up halfway. Sorry I am not attempting to take a picture backwards.

bluestripes

And I wore one of the shirts yesterday to work. I love Fridays not only do I get off an hour earlier I get to wear jeans!

bluepolkadots

I love the jeans so much I have several pairs of them. They look black in both of these pictures but they are a dark blue denim. Sorry I am not good at taking mirror photos.

I’ve got lots of laundry to do and a potential nap. I hope everyone’s having a great Saturday so far!

Question:
  • Is there a smell that brings back vivid memories of a place or event in your past? If so, what and what’s the memory?

TILN: Fashion Edition

I can’t remember the last time I went shopping before tonight. I was doing so good until Angela wore some cute pants that I just had to have! So I headed over to NY & Co. to try them on and they didn’t have them… So instead of the cute pants I wanted I left with 6 shirts. All of which are either blue, grey, white or black. I love flowy shirts and they weren’t lacking in the selection. They had all colors but after getting home I realized I bought all the same colors. Most everything was buy one get one 50% plus I had a $60 off coupon. I couldn’t resist. The grey sweater/cardigan didn’t get pictured but I promise it’s cute:).

Here are some things that are on my wish list!

After work today I am going to get my hair done! Just trimmed and I am thinking low lights to darken it up a little. I can't wait. I love getting my hair done. I may not pay $30 for a mani every week but I will shell out the cash for my hair! Hopefully with me darkening it up some I won't have to go as often.

More Things I Love Now:

Questions:
  • What piece of clothing, shoes or accessories are you loving now?
  • Do you wait till what you want goes on sale and/or you have a coupon or do you splurge and just buy it?
