Weekend Snapshots | Nov. 29-Dec. 1, 2013

Trey was in town this weekend for Thanksgiving. We cooked, cleaned, watched football and decorated for Christmas. It was a great weekend! 

Weekend Snapshots | Nov. 15-17, 2013

Last weekend Mom came and stayed with me. We stayed in on Friday night and watched the Hallmark channel. I cannot get enough of their Christmas movies. Saturday morning I got up and cooked biscuits, gravy and scrambled eggs and then we went shopping at Hobby Lobby. I could not resist the 50% off Christmas sale. Even though I am pretty sure they have that almost all of the time.  Lucy got lots of attention the entire weekend. Sunday was my Mom's birthday. We did a little birthday shopping on QVC and I made lasagna and cheddar garlic cheese biscuits (the Red Lobster boxed mix - so good!). I hardly took any pictures. It was a fun relaxing weekend.

Last weekend some friends came and stayed with me. We tailgated for several hours until it was so cold we decided to go back to the house and finish watching the game (Bama vs. LSU). Although a stressful game, we won! RTR!

Weekend Snapshots | Nov. 1-3, 2013

Life has gone crazy over here. Everything is starting to settle down. Here is what I have been up to lately in list form. I love making lists...

• My Mom was in the hospital and had surgery. She is out now and doing good! I don't know about you but when my Mama's sick my world is turned upside down. 
• I have been keeping Lucy for Mom. She is a handful and a half. She may look sweet but she is a diva. She cannot stay at home alone. She whines so loud my neighbors can hear. She sounds like a child so I am pretty sure if I left her alone they would call the police thinking a human child was being abused in my house. But you cannot help but love her, she has the sweetest puppy eyes. 
• This weekend I bought several items for my house. I finally found a shower curtain I liked for my bathroom. I might have went a little crazy at the mattress store and bought a king size bed for my room. For me, by myself I don't really need a bed that large but my bedroom is huge. I am not complaining I just don't know what else to put in it haha. I thought it might fill it up some but my room makes a king size bed look small... 
• It is finally feeling like Fall around here. I had my first cup of the season of foamy mocha hot chocolate this weekend and have been wearing boots! Boots are my favorite. 

Weekend Snapshots | June 7-9, 2013

I honestly do not think a single person that lived in the house before me ever washed their driveway. It was nasty.

This was the messiest thing ever. Thank goodness we put down plastic shower curtains first. We just rolled the mess up and threw it in the dumpster.

Wow, this past weekend was the most productive weekend I have had in a long time. Probably has something to do with it was my first weekend in town in a while. I got a lot done to the house. Mom was there the whole time and helped me.

This was my to do list for the weekend:

• sand and paint dresser
• paint master bath
• install new shower curtain rod (thanks to my cousin Timmy)
• install bathroom hardware
• install new kitchen faucet (also, thanks to Timmy)
• sand, strip varnish and paint nightstand
• pressure wash driveway
• cut grass and spray weed killer
• clean up plants around mailbox
• paint both halls
• finish organizing filing
• trim shrubs and dig up Crepe Myrtles
• washed light fixtures
• catch up on blog posts (I don't think I opened my laptop once except to look for new knobs for my dresser and nightstand) 

Weekend Snapshots | May 10-12, 2013

After work on Friday I made a stop at TJ Maxx and purchased a lot of cute things.

I love how my house is beginning to look and feel like my home. It's the little things that make it feel like it is mine. I haven't been wanting to leave it lately. I want to stay home and get everything put up and organized just the way I want it. But then I remember those trips to TJ Maxx and realize I need to go to work to fund my obsession with cute things.  

This weekend was another busy one.I finished painting my kitchen and dining area. I love the bright white walls. They feel so clean and fresh. Now I have my bathroom, hall bathroom, both halls and guest room to paint. I enjoy painting but I am ready to have my house finished. 

My Mom came over and cleaned while I painted. She showed me how to work a weed-eater. On Sunday we sat on my patio sipped iced sweet tea and her drink of choice Dr. Pepper. We grilled teriyaki chicken, pineapples, peppers and onions. I am so lucky to have such a wonderful, loving and caring mother. 

Weed-eating is a job but I managed to get my front and back yards finished just as the second battery went dead. I don't think it will be as bad once I kill all the weeds and get some grass to growing again. Some of the weeds were so thick they could have been mistaken for baby trees.

Weekend Snapshots | April 26-28, 2013

1. On Friday I came out of this shiny building a homeowner!
2. I signed a gazillion papers.
3. First meal in my new house. Lee Palace's sesame chicken and steamed rice.

4. I was going to paint all of my walls white until I discovered this beautiful section of paint swatches at Lowe's. I went a little crazy. I really hope I like the colors I chose after they are on the wall. 

Weekend Snapshots | April 19-21, 2013

1. I went a little overboard with the milk foam this weekend but boy did it taste good. I love that you can make frothed milk with a mason jar and microwave.

2. Saturday mornings call for a good hot breakfast. This past Saturday I made a grilled cheese with eggs and strawberry jam. I love the sweet and cheesy flavors together. I am hooked. 

3. My Mom and I went to Lowe's Saturday. I bought a lot of stuff for my house which of course included cacti and succulents. I also got a couple of paint samples to try out on the walls. Now I just have to wait until the Closing on Friday to get the keys! 

Weekend Snapshots | April 5-7, 2013

 

1. My second attempt at making macarons turned out pretty good. They tasted good so that is a plus!
2. Mom and I went to see Dad at the camp.
3. I fished while we were there.
4. One of the fish I caught.
5. Dad's garden he has been working on. We measured it 100 ft. by 25 ft.
6. I learned how to froth my milk without a milk frother all you need is a mason jar. It makes my coffee so good.
7. These are the boxes I have packed so far. I still have a lot to go.

Weekend Snapshots | March 22-24, 2013

1. Friday at work for lunch we ordered sushi. I can't get enough of it. So good.

2. On Saturday, after jogging/walking in the Azalea Trail Run 10k, Trey and I went to a crawfish boil at his friend's house. These were the stairs of death I had to climb up every time I had to go to the bathroom. I was so sore...

5. The amazing salad I had at Panera. It is from their secret menu, Power Mediterranean Chicken Salad. 

6. Driving on Friday and Sunday is always the not so fun part of getting to see Trey. But it is worth it once I get to see him!
