T-Town Cafe | Tuscaloosa, AL

T-Town Cafe is located off 15th Street. The atmosphere is very welcoming when you walk in. I was told it looked the same as the previous restaurant that was there but I never went to that one. They bring out cornbread and cheese biscuits to your table before your meal. I ordered a vegetable plate with cole slaw, au gratin potatoes, black eye peas and fried okra. The black eye peas and fried okra were my favorites. The coleslaw tasted like it was made with honey mustard. It wasn't bad but I don't think I would order it again. The prices are very reasonable and the service is great. I will be going again and trying out some of their other dishes.

Five | Tuscaloosa, AL

On the Sunday of Alumnae Weekend, Anna, Ashley and I went to Five for brunch. Look at all those chandeliers. I couldn't stop looking at the ceiling. I cannot wait to go back. I ordered the Five Burrito and a Bellini. Everything was good!

Which Wich | Tuscaloosa, AL

Which Wich is my new favorite sandwich place. They have a ton of choices for toppings. So far every time I have been everything has been fresh and great. I have only been inside the newest one in Midtown but have had to-go orders from the one on University. I usually get a small turkey on wheat with cheddar, lettuce, tomatoes, grilled onions, pickles, bell peppers and honey mustard. Trey ordered the veggie wrapped in lettuce one time and it looked really good. I have gotten my turkey sandwich wrapped in lettuce and also as a salad. If you really like lettuce you will love the lettuce wrap. I like the sandwich version and the salad bowls the best.

Mellow Mushroom | Tuscaloosa, AL

Unless I am sharing a pizza with someone I always get a calzone from Mellow Mushroom. I get chicken, cheese, tomatoes, onions, broccoli and bell peppers with a side of olive oil and garlic instead of marinara. I always have enough left over for a couple more meals. It is a huge box of goodness.

Hooligan's | Tuscaloosa, AL

Hooligan's opened a second location in the University Mall food court several months or maybe even a year ago not sure when. I had been to their location on University Blvd before and liked it. Since they are close to my office I ran over to the mall and got the Chicken Kabob Wrap to-go one day. The wrap had grilled pieces of chicken, onions and peppers with hummus, lettuce and tomatoes. The grilled chicken was tender and delicious. The wrap came with a side of crinkle cut fries. They were just the right amount of crispy with season all salt on them.

Ichiban | Tuscaloosa, AL

I would say Ichiban is my go to place for sushi. It is not the traditional American Japanese Steakhouse. They do not have grills and cook in front of you. But they do have a lot of great sushi rolls to choose from. Here are the ones that I have tried so far. All of which I loved minus the Fancher roll. It was okay but wouldn't order it again.

Tuscaloosa - crab, cream cheese, fried shrimp, cucumber and avocado with massago and eel sauce
Kylie - tuna, avocado and cream cheese
Haney - tuna, avocado, cream cheese, crispies and Ichiban sauce
Vegetable - cucumber, pickled radish, avocado and green onions
California - cucumber, avocado and crab
Sun - smoked salmon, avocado and cream cheese
Fancher - tempura chicken, cream cheese, green onions with hot sauce and ranch dressing on top
Good - eel, avocado, cream cheese and crab deep fried with eel sauce on top

Also, the crab rangoons are amazing.

Hokkaido | Tuscaloosa, AL

Hokkaido is one of my favorite Japanese restaurants. We frequently order lunch there at the office. I love their ginger salad which I did not get a picture of since I finished it before thinking of taking a photo. I love the grilled vegetables but sometimes I order the teriyaki chicken too. If you are in Tuscaloosa looking for a good Japanese place Hokkaido will not disappoint.

Full Moon BBQ | Tuscaloosa, AL

I am not a huge fan of barbecue but every once in a while I will be in the mood for it. Mom and I went to Full Moon several months ago. I ordered the BBQ chicken sandwich. It was really good. I loved the chow chow and wished they had given me more than just a spoonful. If I am wanting BBQ again I would definitely go back to Full Moon.

Local Catch | Tuscaloosa, AL

After work today I met Leigh for dinner at Local Catch, a newer restaurant in downtown Tuscaloosa. Neither one of us had ever been before. I ordered a glass of Moscato and the Fish Tacos - grilled fish of the day with cabbage, pico de gallo and house white sauce with fries. I am not sure what the house white sauce is but it is really good. The service was great and the waiter/bartender/host was friendly. I will definitely be going back to try some of their other dishes.

Edgar's Bakery | Tuscaloosa, AL

Edgar's is one of my new favorites. Mom and I had breakfast there one Saturday morning. I ordered the bacon, egg and cheese biscuit with a side of breakfast potatoes. I loved that the biscuits have cheese in them instead of a slice of cheese inside. So good!

For lunch one day at work, we ordered Edgar's to-go. I had the Chicken Salad Croissant with a side of fruit and baked potato salad. We were given free cookies. Aren't they cute! Once again, everything was very good. I can't wait to go again and try some of their other lunch options.

La Gran Fiesta | Tuscaloosa, AL

Growing up, La Gran Fiesta is where everyone went after church on Sunday night. So many good memories. Before starting to paint my house a couple of weekends ago we all went to La Gran for some pre-painting fuel. It was just as good as I remembered.
