Ma Fia's | Opelika, Alabama
A while back when I was in Opelika visiting Trey, we went to Ma Fia's for dinner. There were a lot of good sounding items on the menu.
To start, we shared the Garofalo Rice Balls - delicately fried rice balls, Italian cheeses, basil and saffron. Served with marinara. I have never had fried rice balls before so I had no idea what to expect. They were good.
Trey ordered a chicken dish. I can not find it on the online menu but it was amazing. The chicken was tender and mildly sweet. The broccolini was good and my favorite part was the noodles. They were crunchy and sweet. The flavors of this dish went perfect together. I will be ordering this if we go back.
I ordered the Torino pizza - Alfredo sauce, mozzarella, grilled chicken, bacon and red onions. This pizza was delicious. But I still would have rather had Trey's dish. It was that good. Carrie ordered shrimp scampi pasta. It was good as well.
It is a very cute place! I loved the lights strung around the patio and the barrel on the corner. Such a neat atmosphere.

Wintzell's | Montgomery, Alabama
A few weeks ago I went to visit Trey. When I got to Montgomery, I picked Trey up at his school and we went to Anna's to pick her up. We went downtown and ate at Wintzell's. I have eaten at Wintzell's in Tuscaloosa and Mobile. Their fish tacos and fried green beans are so good. Trey got the oysters. Anna and I shared one of each to try. My favorite was the Bienville - covered with shrimp, crabmeat and parmesan sauce.
After eating we walked around near the river. Then we took Anna back home and headed to Opelika.

snowpocalypse
I sure hope January is not setting the tone for the rest of 2014. On Tuesday it took me 3 hours to drive 8 miles home. Not complaining though. I was one of the lucky ones. Some people didn't make it home and had to sleep in shelters, at work, in store aisles, etc. I was excited to have some friends stay over but felt bad that they couldn't get home. I am not going to get into all the what ifs, who was to blame and all that mess. Mistakes happen and everyone handled the situation as best as they could. And don't get me started on all the comments about us Southerners and a little snow...

January
January has flown by. I felt like I lost a week of my life this month. I had my first hospital visit and overnight stay. Long story short, my kidneys gave me one heck of a time. I have never felt a pain that severe before. The CT scanned showed one side of one of my kidneys was swollen but all other tests came back normal except for my white blood cells. So I was sent home after one night in the hospital with lots of pills to take. My doctor is not sure what happened. I go back in a couple of weeks for an ultrasound. Thankfully, I have not had anymore pain since that first day when I went to the ER. In the midst of all that I got the crud/cold/sinus infection. I felt horrible and ended up staying in bed all week. My Mom came and stayed with me. There is nothing like having your Mom there to take care of you while you're sick.
I was spoiled by my amazing family, friends and boss. Thank you all very much! This huge basket of goodies and adorable cake pops were delivered to my house. Trey surprised me with the comfiest cutest shirt and sweatshirt. I am so grateful for everything! These things along with sweet words and cards gave me a pick me up while laying in bed all day feeling terrible.
Never have I been so happy to get out of bed in the morning and not be sick!

New Year's Eve 2013
L to R: Heath (sorry... the waiter cut you out!), Kaitlin, Cody, Hannah, Angela, Trey, me, Anna, Perry and Jacob
After Primeaux, we went to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner. It was delicious and fun. My last meal in 2013 was the Chicken and Biscuits. I had to go all out. By the way, I really miss seeing these people! We need to make it a priority to see each other more often. Plus the ones that couldn't make it.
Oh and.... exciting news, Kaitlin and Heath got engaged! I met him for the first time at dinner. Congrats girl!
